The Katherine Finchy Special Education Team is a team of specialists that may include a school psychologist, speech therapist, resource specialist, occupational therapist, and school nurse depending on the concerns and needs of your child. The team members identify students who qualify for special education services based on standardized assessments, observations, and information provided by parents and/or caregivers. If your child qualifies for services, the team members work together to support your child in the general education classroom and to address areas of need.
The Resource Program provides specialized academic instruction to students that meet the eligibility criteria for special education services and who are placed on an IEP. Students are provided instruction to address academic deficits based on areas of qualification and IEP goals. Students may require specialized instruction in the area of reading, writing, math, oral language, or any combination of these. Students requiring behavioral support that impacts academic progress may also receive support through this program.
